This design features a painting by the American artist Frederic Edwin Church (–). It shows the Parthenon (Παρθενώνας), which is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis in Greece. The Parthenon was dedicated to the goddess Athena, who was closely associated with the city of Athens. Construction started in BC and it was completed in BC. It is generally considered to be the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, representing the architecture of the Doric order.
